About the course
Compliance with the GDPR is obviously important. But it can also seem confusing and complicated. No worries! Set aside 45 minutes and we’ll give you the overview you’re looking for.
This introductory course is based on conversations with the Norwegian Data Protection Authority (Datatilsynet), the supervisory authority for the GDPR in Norway.
Course structure
The course consists of four short modules, each with three to seven lessons.
In the first module, you will learn what the GDPR is—and why we need it. Among other things, you will learn about the types of personal data covered by the legislation, and why it’s important for individuals to have more control over their own data in the first place.
The second module covers key concepts and terms within the GDPR. We will, for example, look at what it means to process personal data and how you can do this within the framework of the regulation. We will also discuss data processing agreements, privacy notices, consent and more.
The third module provides an introduction to the routines and precautions that must be in place in a business to comply with the GDPR and avoid common mistakes and pitfalls—as well as what can happen when things go wrong.
In the fourth module, we will examine how technology, law, and legally binding judgments influence what a business is permitted to do—or not permitted to—within the framework of the regulations.
